Cedar Harvesting
We were thrilled to have our staff participate in cedar harvesting last week!
A big thank you to everyone who took part uušy`akšiƛe`ic (you have done a good thing).
The learning experience, guided by knowledge keeper Brian Wilson from Ucluelet, was truly enriching. The collaboration across various departments was fantastic and made the day highly productive.
The day was multi-purpose, staff experienced harvesting cedar for the first time and will be able to apply the experience and knowledge across the district. Students will benefit from the harvested product, doing introductory weaving, head bands for regalia, cedar bracelets, learning how to make cedar rope, as well as other projects as they arise.
